The Hero's Journey
Young people are the future shapers of our culture and the hope is that they will use their collective voice to help determine how our world is run more sustainably and harmoniously. The question is, how do we equip young people to become heroes? Do they have the tools to go through life with CONFIDENCE, PURPOSE and KNOWLEDGE OF SELF?
An African proverb says, ‘It takes a village to raise a child’; where does this saying fit in the modern world? With the influences of today’s music, celebrity, social media and popular culture, are our young people developing the skills needed to be valuable members of our society?
This workshop seeks to provide guidance and restore some balance by bringing young people in sync with the legacy of our ancestors. To do that we invite young people on a journey back in time to Africa’s antiquity to uncover the heroes of the past. On that journey we will take them right up to present day, to look at inspirational figures of our generation. The programme is delivered by Luke Skyz Bafta nominated screen writer, song writer, actor and recording artist, a Black British Life Coach of mixed heritage.

Covid Lockdown Laptop Distribution
During the 2021 Covid 19 Spring Lockdown Afewee delivered 21 laptops to children who had no access to online lessons or who were sharing laptops with 2,3 or even 4 other children. Altogether 38 young people benefitted.
We are very grateful to THE WALCOTT FOUNDATION who gave financial assistance to enable this to happen under THE LONDON EMERGENCY RESPONSE FUND . Here is what two of the mums said

Summer Of Food and Fun
During the school summer holidays in 2020 Afewee took part in the Lambeth and Southwark Summer of Food and Fun sponsored by THE MAYORS FUND FOR LONDON.
The programme took place in the Milkwood Community Park and thank you to Maude Estwick and the Milkwood Road Residents Association for helping to make this happen.
35 Children took part in the programme which ran over 4 weeks and included boxing, football, gardening, talks and other activities.
